Low-power clock generation circuits is crucial to reduce the system average power consumption in a duty-cycled radio in IoT applications. However, it is not trivial to improve the performance without introducing overhead in power consumption or off-chip components (extra-cost). In this project, a high-performance low-power clock generation circuits, e.g., RC-based oscillator.

 

Project Description

Low-power clock generation circuits is crucial to reduce the system average power consumption in a duty-cycled radio in IoT applications. However, it is not trivial to improve the performance without introducing overhead in power consumption or off-chip components (extra-cost).

 

The scope of this project is to design fully integrated oscillators with decent performance for radios in IoT applications.

 

Your Tasks

  • Study and survey on state-of-the-art low-power clock generation.
  • Analyze problems and propose solutions.
  • Design and implement of the proposed solution in a chip.
  • (Optional) Tape-out of the test chip and measurements for verification.
  • Writing final report and presentation of the results.

 

Your Profile

  • Good analytical skills
  • Knowledges of designing CMOS circuits
  • Motivated student eager to work independently and expand knowledge in the field
  • Good written and verbal English skills
