The field of Hybrid Printed Electronics (HPE) is highly dynamic and quickly growing. By combining technologies from the established electronics industry with newest developments in printing of electronics and of roll-to-roll and sheet-to-sheet processing of flexible devices, a new way of manufacturing of electronic devices is emerging. Some examples: wearable sensor devices that allow for unobtrusive monitoring of health parameters or 3D-shaped parts for automotive interiors in which smart functions have been integrated.


Holst Centre is one of the globally recognized pioneers in this field. In the past few years, a growing number of companies worldwide has decided to team up with Holst Centre implementing HPE in their products. Holst Centre's partners include global players with major brands as well as innovative small and mid-size companies in and around the Eindhoven 'Brainport' region. We see opportunities for further growth of our HPE business and we are therefore looking for an entrepreneurial Business Developer, taking the lead in further expanding our business in this field.


Job description

Your main goals are to globally identify companies for which Hybrid Printed Electronics is relevant, to gain understanding of key trends and industrial needs, to develop attractive and valuable propositions for these companies within the scope of Holst Centre's program lines and capabilities and to negotiate and conclude contracts with them.


To achieve these goals, you will work closely with program management, experts and business development colleagues. As innovations in Hybrid Printed Electronics require smart integration of a wide range of technologies, you will be continuously interacting with colleagues of imec and of other parts of TNO such as those with specific domain know-how in industries such as automotive and healthcare technology.


You are self-propelling and you have a can-do mentality. You have business sense and you understand industry. You have:

  • A university degree in beta sciences (for instance in electrical or mechanical engineering, mechatronics or materials sciences). An additional MBA degree is appreciated but not required.
  • A proven industrial track record and network, for instance in the electronics industry
  • 3-10 years of experience in business development
  • Good skills in presenting, negotiating, networking and stakeholder management
  • Willingness to travel worldwide (approx. 20% of time) on a regular basis, as Holst Centre has partners in Europe, Asia and North-America
  • Fluency in English
