Researcher Low-temperature sintering
At TNO, Patterning for Flexible Systems
Job description:
You will be a member of a multi-disciplinary team of process engineers and researchers, which develops printing and low-temperature sintering technology for the fabrication of metal grids for several printed electronic applications, such as shunt lines for OLED, current collectors for organic photovoltaic and metal electrodes for smart blister and RFID. Your ambition is to become the recognized expert in the field of low-temperature sintering of printed functional structures, such as metal inks. The main challenges include the further reduction of the sintering temperature, the speed of the roll-2-roll sintering process, the compatibility of the sintering process with the base material, the low-temperature curing of functional non-conductive inks, the sensitivity to wavelength. Your key responsibilities will include:
· Built up leading knowledge in the field of low-temperature sintering processes to fabricate metal grids for printed electronics applications; · Develop the Holst Centre proprietary photonic sintering process for large-area electronics on flexible substrates; · Benchmarking of low-sintering technologies (laser sintering, plasma sintering, chemical sintering); · Develop a numerical model to support the photonic sintering process development; · Generate high-quality results that are patentable or publishable in international journals.
Profile:
You are an ambitious and efficient researcher with both scientific and practical skills. You have the following background:
· PhD degree in Material Science, Applied Physics or Chemistry or equivalent through experience with specialization in Nanotechnology; · Background in low-temperature sintering technologies and/or laser technology/photonics is a pre; · Affinity with process integration and process development; · Hands-on mentality, team player, good organizational and communication skills; · Good communication skills in English.
